SEM, or Search Engine Marketing, is the means by which Internet marketers promote websites by optimizing their prominence on search engine results. We specialize in the following search engine marketing components:
Search Engine Optimization:
“Keywords” are the individual words or longer terms that Internet users typically type into the search engines to find information on specific topics. Search engines utilize computer programs that are called “bots” or “spiders” to crawl the web and recognize keywords on websites so that they know what type of information can be found there. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the element of search engine marketing that includes identifying and subsequently incorporating highly relevant keywords into a site’s pages in order to achieve higher search engine results.
Link Building:
This aspect of search engine marketing involves getting other websites to link to yours. Most search engines, including Google, use link popularity as part of the algorithms that determine where a site will rank in their listings. However, they also use the quality of the sites that link to yours as a factor in determining page rank. For this reason we have to be discriminating when building links for our clients, and we seek out only high quality, relevant links from trusted sites and avoid what are known as “bad neighborhoods.”
Directory Submissions:
A large part of search engine marketing is submitting a site for inclusion in a directory. Getting a site listed in a directory (such as Yahoo! or The Open Directory) is important to achieving good search engine rankings. Search engines can determine whether a site is listed in a directory, and they use that listing to determine where to rank that site. Many directories charge a fee for inclusion, but that fee can ultimately provide a positive return on investment in certain instances.
Pay-Per-Click Programs:
Most search engines and directories offer pay-per-click advertising. When you utilize pay-per-click campaigns to drive traffic, you pay to be listed when someone searches for terms that are relevant to your business. The same keyword research that is used for on-page search engine optimization purposes is typically used to determine which keywords you target to drive your pay-per-click campaign as well. Once you begin a pay-per-click advertising campaign, users will see your ad when they search for the keywords you are targeting, and you are charged every time someone clicks on your ad.
